When it’s done right, preservation work is invisible. That’s why most people don’t see the need for it—until it’s not being done.

Washington National Cathedral’s outstanding beauty and sense of wonder are integral to our mission of welcome, worship and dialogue. But so are a roof that doesn’t leak, light bulbs that work and chairs that are safe to sit on.

Your gift today will go directly toward crucial daily tasks like:

  • Carpentry: The woodwork in a building more than 100 years old takes a lot of upkeep, repair and polishing.
  • Stonework: Hand-carved stone is the main fabric of the Cathedral building, and caring for it is a full-time job.
  • Facilities: A solid infrastructure—such as working gargoyles to funnel water away from the building—keeps our visitors safe.
  • Maintenance: An enormous building visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year needs endless cleaning by our sextons.

Thank you for your special preservation gift!
