Washington National Cathedral was conceived as a great church for national purposes. For 115 years, the Cathedral has stood at the crossroads of sacred and civic life, offering a faith perspective on our national life. We have served our nation as a space for state funerals and other significant events and as a convener of important discussions on vital issues.
Yet the Cathedral is not supported by the federal government or any national church body for its operations. Instead, it’s people just like you who ensure that this national treasure is here today and for future generations.
Thank you for your gift today to support all that you love about the Cathedral!
The support of friends like you allowed the Cathedral to create a rich variety of online offerings during the pandemic. Through this online ministry:
Average online attendance of Sunday services increased by 10x, including more than 1 million viewers enjoying our Easter Sunday service.
Each service video continues to gain new viewers from around the world long after the live service is over.
We’ve reached more than 1.5 million people with online worship services, programs and daily videos.
We’re sharing daily devotionals on Facebook and have passed 100,000 followers.
YouTube subscribers rose by 49% in just 4 weeks.
We’ve relaunched our “Honest to God” speaker series online, welcoming thinkers like bestselling authors Philip Yancey and Nadia Bolz-Weber, as well as speaker and activist Lisa Sharon Harper.
Additional online offerings from the Cathedral included everything from a drone fly-through video of the Cathedral to virtual tours to Cathedral coloring pages for kids and adults.
